Football playoff ticket prices set
PLATTSBURGH — Ticket prices have been set for the playoffs in football.

Semifinal and crossover contests this weekend will carry a $3 charge for adults and $2 for students. Final games are $5 for everyone while regional admission price is $6 for all.

PYH board to meet Nov. 4
PLATTSBURGH — Plattsburgh Youth Hockey's next board meeting is on Nov. 4 at the PSU Field House at 7:30 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.



PYH to hold annual social event Friday
PLATTSBURGH — Plattsburgh Youth Hockey will hold its annual social event and general membership meeting Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Lake City Skate. There will be a kids' skate with supervision from 7-8 p.m.



Hoop officials seek new members
PLATTSBURGH — IAABO Board 43 Boys and Northern Adirondack Girls Officials will meet Nov. 1 at the following times in the Plattsburgh High School cafeteria — girls, 5 p.m.; boys, 5:30 p.m. Anyone interested in officiating high-school basketball games is encouraged to attend.

Current officials are reminded late dues and fines are to be paid, rulebooks and refresher tests will be distributed.

All the following meetings will be at Plattsburgh High School and at 6 p.m.

Nov. 2, 4 — girls' preseason rules.

Nov. 8 — mandatory girls rules

Nov. 9 — mandatory girls rules and the girls written test at 6:30.

Nov. 12, 17, 19 — boys' preseason rules.

Nov. 22 — mandatory boys rules

Nov. 30 — mandatory boys rules and the boys' written test at 6:30.

Additional dates will be Dec. 6, Jan. 4 and Feb. 22.

NCGC Halloween tourney Friday night
ROUSES POINT — The North Country Golf Club will hold its annual Halloween Glow Ball Tournament Friday at 7:30 p.m. with all proceeds going to the Junior Program at the club. It will be a two-player scramble.

The package includes a buffet with beverages prior to the round, prizes for the top three places, $100 for the best costume and skins.

$100 best costume prize.

Also, the Annual Falling Leaves Tourney has been rescheduled for Saturday. The following teams have registered with entries still being accepted for the two-player, better-ball event with handicap.

Mazdzer wins second USA Luge race-off
LAKE PLACID — Saranac Lake's Chris Mazdzer, the 2007 National Champion, won his second race Saturday in qualifying for the USA Luge team in Lake Placid.

The four race-off series will resume in Park City, Utah on Nov. 6. The final cuts will be made on Nov. 15, during a week of international training in Whistler, B.C.

Mazdzer had a total time of 1:46.381. Trent Matheson (Bountiful, Utah) was second with 1:46.645 while Robby Huerbin (Pittsburgh, Pa.) clocked a 1:46.871 to finish third. Mazdzer leads the race series with 200 points, while Matheson is second with 160.

Bengt Walden and Tony Benshoof are exempt from the race-off series based on their respective World and National Championship performances from the prior season.

USA Luge's fall 2009 team will feature 15 athletes (four in men's singles, five in women's singles and three doubles teams). These 15 athletes will then use the four pre-Christmas World Cup events as qualifiers for the 2010 Olympic team.

Town's Open Family Swim to begin Nov. 6
WEST PLATTSBURGH — The Town of Plattsburgh Recreation Department is once again sponsoring Open Family Swim at the Wellness Center, at PARC at 295 New York Road every Friday evening beginning Nov. 6 and running through March. Each session will be from 7-9 p.m. These sessions are not only for children but are open to persons of all ages not in diapers.

There is a charge of $2 per person for town residents and $4 per person for non-residents. Children under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult and proof of residency will be required. Certified lifeguards are on duty at all times.

Participants have use of the locker rooms but everyone using the facility is responsible for bringing their own towel and it is recommended that water shoes be worn. For more information, call the Town Recreation Office, at 562-6860, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
