Hornets' Edwards gets pitching win
PLATTSBURGH -- Jon Edwards tossed a five-hitter in going the distance for the pitching victory in Plattsburgh High School's 7-3 win over Beekmantown on Tuesday.
D'Lano golf entry fees due June 6
PLATTSBURGH -- Entry forms and fees for the Fourth-Annual Al D'Lano Golf Classic should be received no later than Friday, June 6. Forms can be mailed to Terry Condo, at 6 West Court Street, Plattsburgh, N.Y. 12901.
Forms may also be dropped off at Plattsburgh Golf Discount. For more information, contact Condo, at 563-4724. The field will be limited to the first 26 teams to enter.
Mayor's Cup 5K Run/Walk to be July 12
PLATTSBURGH -- The Mayor's Cup 5K Run/Walk is planned for Saturday, July 12, starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Wellness Center at PARC, New York Road.
Pre-race registration is $12 (prior to July 3). Race-day registration will be $15. The family registration fee (two or more family members) is $30. The first 50 participants to register before July 3 will receive a t-shirt.
The event benefits "Go Red For Women." This fund assists the American Heart Association's ongoing research and education about women and heart disease. Registration forms are available by calling the Wellness Center at PARC, 324-2024.
Tom Lacey named Official of the Year
ALBANY -- The Basketball Coaches Association of New York State has recently named Plattsburgh's Tom Lacey as its 2008 Official of the Year for Division III and Junior College basketball. This award recognizing the achievement of college officials has been given annually since 1988.
The Basketball Coaches Association of New York is an organization that exists to promote the sport of basketball at all levels, and its membership consists of college and high school coaches from across the state.
Maille gets double-eagle at Adirondack
PERU -- Ryan Maille, playing in the Tuesday Golf League at Adirondack Golf & Country Club, recorded a double-eagle on the par-five, 12th hole, using a driver and nine-iron.
