25 YEARS AGO (1987)

Tommy Raville puts together rounds of 75, 76 and 77 for a 54-hole score of 228 in placing eighth out of 150 golfers at the New York State Mid-Amateur Championships in Rochester. The event is for players 25 years and older.

Mike Cleveland’s penalty kick with 6 minutes to play gives St. John’s a 1-0 win over Plattsburgh High.

Craig Worley scores twice as AuSable Valley rallies from a 1-0 halftime deficit to defeat NCCS 4-1.

Joani Kazlo converts a penalty shot 18 minutes into the game and Crown Point goes on to beat Westport 1-0 to claim sole possession of first in the MVAC South.

Anne Winterkorn turns in 2 school-record performances and joins Jackie Speer and Beth Bergevin as triple winners as PHS prevails 119-53 to snap Peru’s dual-meet winning streak in swimming at 75. Julie Dandrow and Leigh Ryan

are double winners for the Hornets.

Mike Roark and Eric Stanley come up with big defensive plays in the second half, helping PHS preserve a 19-18 victory over Beekmantown.

Bob Dedrick hits Terry Brannock for a 33-yard TD pass and Mike Rich boots the point after to give Ticonderoga a 7-6 win over Saranac Lake. Chris Blanchard scores on a 2-yard sneak in the first quarter for the Redskins, but the PAT attempt is blocked.

Patti Burdo’s goal late in the fourth quarter gives unbeaten Elizabethtown-Lewis a 3-2 come-from-behind win over Willsboro. Wendy Lavigne gets the Lions’ first 2 goals while Judy Thompson and Jodi Marcotte

score for the Warriors.

Cathy Drollette scores twice to lead Dannemora to a 4-2 win over Westport. Beth Pombrio and Becky Snyder also score for the winners while Robyn Ryan
