Both teams were credited with nine shots on goal. Mitchell Jordon recorded the shutout with four saves and Logan Calvey stopped five shots for the Knights (6-9-3, 3-5-1), who did not qualify for the SUNYAC Tournament.
“We capitalized on our chances,” Waterbury said. “We had a ton of good scoring chances, even though the conditions were not really that good. This is the type of game we’ve struggled in the past.
“Our back four of Nelson Vetter, Wade Goehle, Nick Economou and Clay Sherman played very well.”
With Plattsburgh winning on Saturday, Potsdam qualified as the sixth seed in the upcoming event. The Bears dropped a wild 7-3 contest at The College of Brockport on Saturday and will be making a return trip to Brockport this coming weekend to take on the third-seeded Golden Eagles in the quarterfinals.
“We knocked Geneseo out of the playoffs and did Potsdam a favor,” Waterbury said.
