Peru teen wins Co-Angler of Year honors

PORT HENRY — Peru’s Jesse Bezio received The Bass Federation Co-Angler of the Year Award last week for finishing first in his division of the New York TBF.

Bezio, 18, was the youngest angler on the New York circuit. The Peru rookie has been fishing since the age of 5.

He finished with 456 points with first place in each of the five tournaments worth 100 points, second, 97, and so on. The tournaments were held at the Hudson River, Lake Champlain, Lake George, Oneida Lake and the Mohawk River.

Bezio, a June graduate of Peru Central, was presented with the award on Oct. 12 at the Port Henry Boat Launch where he also participated in the 2014 New York State Team Qualifier.

Bezio participated with New State TBF Team as a Co Angler during the state divisionals Sept. 11-13 on the Connecticut River. The New York Team finished fourth out of the field of states. Bezio was the youngest angler among the teams ranging from the Northeastern Region and Canada.
