Lawliss leads Peru over PHS in CVAC gymnastics


PLATTSBURGH — Molly Lawliss captured the all-around victory and helped Peru to a 153.25-129.6 victory over Plattsburgh in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference gymnastics Friday.

Lawliss took second on the beam with a score of 8.2 and tied for second on the floor with an 8.5.

Alexandra Brown added wins in the beam with an 8.3 and tied with teammate Kira Fisher for first on the bars with a 7.3. She also had a victory in the vault.

Alaina Bazzano one the floor exercise with a score of 8.7.

Hannah Kaltenbach took second in the all-around, while teammates Madison Baker and Julianna Baker went third and fourth, respectively.

“Plattsburgh gave solid performances on the vault and bars, but could not top Peru’s depth on the floor and beam,” Hornets coach Janice Trudeau said.

Kaltenback tied with Plattsburgh’s Gavin Ritz and Peru’s Brown for first on the vault with a score of 7.9. Kaltenbach also took third on the bars with a 6.85.

Madison Baker had a fourth-place finish on the beam (7.55) and a sixth-place finish on the floor (8.2).
