Barriere's penalty kick lifts Chazy over E'town-Lewis


CHAZY — The Chazy boys’ soccer team is scoring just enough to win games.

Josh Barriere’s penalty kick Friday night gave the Eagles a 1-0 victory over rival Elizabethtown-Lewis in Northern Soccer League play.

Following a scoreless first half, Barriere tallied his penalty kick with 3:02 gone in the second half.

Trent Blais and Austin Gravelle each recorded one save in net for Chazy to combine for the shutout, while Justin LaPier made four stops for the Lions.

Zach Brothers and Dylan Doran were standouts in the Chazy victory and Zac Noka-Bailey stood out for Elizabethtown-Lewis.

KEENE — Ryan Davis connected on a penalty kick at the 20:02 mark of the second half to lift the Eagles over the Beavers.

Davis, who had scored earlier in the game, gave Westport a 2-1 lead on a penalty kick after Keene was whistled for a hand ball off a corner kick.

Wyatt Gough tallied late in the half to give the Eagles an insurance goal. Tom Mero finished with a pair of assists. Anderson Gay also had a strong game.

Gaber Warner had the lone goal for the Beavers. Harry Joanette had the assist.

Sam Napper grabbed the win in net with four saves. Brandon Dumas turned way 11 for Keene.

OLMSTEDVILLE — The Panthers scored four unanswered goals in the second half to rally past the Mountaineers.

Kalab Helms scored a pair of goals, one in each half, to give Minerva/Newcomb a 2-1 lead.

But, four straight goals gave Crown Point the victory.

Noah Macey scored three goals for the Panthers, while Chad Stephens and Judd DeBrobander each had one. Joe Foote finished with two assists. Macey, Jaice Spring and Kolby Pertak each assisted on a goal.

Alex Ruzbacki made 18 saves in net for the Mountaineers. Brenden Crownshield made four saves for the victory.

Jacob Galusha was a standout for Minerva/Newcomb.

CHATEAUGAY — Nick Ashline scored two goals as the Bulldogs wrapped up a long week with a win over the Larries.

Seth Young added a goal and an assist for Chateaugay (7-2-1, 6-1-1). Reid Laplante finished with two assists.

Matt Farary had the lone goal of the game for St. Lawrence. Cody Meacham picked up the assist.

Josh Trombley made one save in net for the Bulldogs in the win. Hayden St. Hilaire stopped 13 for the Larries.

LAKE PLACID — It was a tale of two halves when the Vikings took on the Blue Bombers.

Moriah jumped out to a 3-0 lead at halftime, but Lake Placid battled back for three goals of its own in the second half to force overtime.

Halie Snyder tallied in the first overtime to give the Vikings a 4-3 lead with 3:01 gone. Liza Marinis, though, tied it one final time with a goal at the 7:59 mark of the first overtime.

“Moriah dominated the first half and was first to the ball all over the field,” Lake Placid coach Heather Brewer said. “Lake Placid picked it up in the second half and capitalized on their chances. Both sides played evenly in the overtimes.”

Snyder had two first-half goals for Moriah, with Reagan Pratt adding the third. Morgan Meachem and Taylor Sprague had the assists.

Payton Barney, Cheyenne Blair and Adele Jesmer had the goals for the Blue Bombers in the second half. Jesmer, Marinis and Carissa Kennedy supplied the assists.

Emily Barney (1) and Laura Stanton (11) combined for 12 saves Lake Placid. Lauren Cross stopped 16 shots for the Vikings.

INDIAN LAKE — Makenzie Winslow scored three goals in the Mountaineers’ win over the Orange.

Angela McCall added a first-half goal for Minerva/Newcomb. Winslow scored two of her goals in the second half.

The Mountaineers outshot Indian Lake/Long Lake 11-0 in the game.

Jazmin Piraino, stepping in at goalie, turned away seven shots for the Orange. Astasia Myler captured the shutout, not having to make a save.
