Eagles knock Chiefs from unbeaten ranks

SARANAC — Beekmantown took five of the top 10 spots to capture three victories Tuesday, including handing Saranac its first loss of the season, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys’ cross country.

The Eagles picked up wins over the Chiefs, Plattsburgh and Peru.

Colin Quackenbush (17:18) took third to lead Beekmantown. Jon Graziane (17:24) grabbed fourth, Everett Sapp (17:58) nabbed sixth, Cory Couture (18:07) placed eighth and Jordan West (18:08) finished ninth.

Saranac went 2-1 on the afternoon with wins against the Hornets and the Indians.

Zach LaPage (16:56) captured second for the Chiefs. Sean Tyrell (17:52) was fifth), Chad Dashnaw (17:58) took seventh and Justin Liechty (18:20) grabbed 10th.

Jeriqho Gadway captured first in a time of 15:58 to lead Plattsburgh to a win over Peru. Ethan Feazelle paced the Indians with a time of 19:27.

Westport’s Jonathan Gay (18:33) finished 11th.

The Indians kept pace with Seton Catholic near the top of the standings with three victories in the girls’ race.

Peru defeated Beekmantown, Saranac and Plattsburgh.

Maria Remillard took first with a time of 20:36, while Abby Adams (21:01) came in second. Megah Mazzella (21:20) grabbed fourth, Shauna Fliss (21:23) was fifth and Cheyanne Dobozy (21:31) finished in seventh.

Elysha O’Connell (21:04) finished third in the race to help the Chiefs pickup wins over the Hornets and the Eagles.

Abby Cerne (21:27) finished in sixth, while Faith Haley (21:51) took 10th.

Rachel Kashorek (21:33) paced Beekmantown with an eighth-place finish. Plattsburgh’s Claire Deshaies (21:45) took ninth.

The Hornets grabbed a win over the Eagles by a tiebreaker. Plattsburgh had a sixth runner finish before Beekmantown.
