Hornets take down Blue Bombers in CVAC volleyball

PLATTSBURGH — Lida Jivitski and Kianna Dragoon helped Plattsburgh break back into the win column with a 3-0 win against Lake Placid in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference volleyball Tuesday.

Jivitski had 14 points with six aces and three kills, while Dragoon finished with 12 points, three aces, 13 assists and three kills.

The Hornets captured games of 25-13, 25-22 and 25-14.

Deanna LaBarge chipped in with eight kills, three digs and four points.

Taylor Maiorca paced the Blue Bombers with eight points, two aces and four assists. Matoaka Riedle added four points and seven digs.

CHAMPLAIN — Michaela Lafountain had 20 assists as the Eagles knocked off the Cougars.

Beekmantown picked up wins of 25-14, 25-13 and 25-15.

Lafountain added 6 digs and two aces to go with her assists. Jordynne Ales chipped in with seven points, three aces and 13 digs. Shannon Ryan finished with three blocks, eight kills and seven digs, while Grace Kelly added 11 digs and four kills.

Amanda Tallon paced Northeastern Clinton with five points and six assists. Gabrielle Vasquez had six points, while Brianna McCoy finished with five points and four blocks. Ellen Reid picked up five assists.

“I thought we played really well (Tuesday),” Cougars coach Brent Baker said. “Unfortunately, when you play a team like Beekmantown, a good night doesn’t always add up to success on the scoreboard.

“I feel that we took a positive step forward playing as well as we did.”

PERU — Emma Trombley and Zoey Varin led the charge as the Bobcats defeated the Indians in three straight games.

Northern Adirondack won in games of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-14.

Trombley finished with 13 points, two aces and five kills, while Varin added 13 points, five aces and three kills. MacKenzie Fountain chipped in with seven assists.

Maddie Kaplan paced Peru with seven points, five aces and three kills. Lexi Miner added six points and four aces.
