Chateaugay boys tie in NAC soccer

BEEKMANTOWN — POTSDAM — Dylan Litscum’s second goal of the game, with 4:02 left in regulation Saturday night, pulled Heuvelton into a 2-all overtime tie with Chateaugay in Northern Athletic Conference non-league boys’ soccer.

Chad Stalter gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead with two first-half goals, only to have Litscum tally twice after intermission to force overtime.

Chateaugay finished with a 9-8 shot advantage.

“We had a lot of good chances,” said Chateaugay coach Bob Ouimet. “We got sloppy on the goals when they tied it up. We had good chances to extend the lead and then in overtime.

“We played two games in two days, but we didn’t play tired. We played the game well.”

Chateaugay, after opening the season with a 0-3 mark, is unbeaten in its last seven games (4-0-3) for a 4-3-3 record.

“We’re really starting to come together now,” said Ouimet. “We’re starting a couple of freshmen and sophomores. We have a lot of experienced players coming off the bench for us and that makes a big difference.”
