NCCC loses in men's soccer

SARANAC LAKE — Jason Boxx and Robert Carter scored goals Sunday to lift the Cayuga Community College men’s soccer team to a 2-0 victory over North Country Community College.

Boxx gave the visitors the lead with 33:18 gone in the first half and Carter added his goal with 11:43 off the clock in the second half.

The Saints held a 14-9 advantage in shots on goal, with Beau Stanford making seven saves for North Country. Mohammed Ouro-Sama stopped seven shots to post the shutout for Cayuga.

“We didn’t play badly, but we lacked possession in the attacking third,” North Country coach Adam diVincenzo said. “We gave up a couple of soft goals and weren’t able to come back.

“Boxx, who is a center back, played very well for them.”
