Hemelin wins bicycle time trial with personal best

POINT AU ROCHE — Corey Hamelin won the weekly bicycle time trials for the second time this season and posted a new personal record of 23:44 on the 10-mile course. Matthew Speirs placed second and Mark Theeman, a visitor from Boston, was third.

The time trials will run again next Wednesday at the Point au Roche firehouse on the Lakeshore Road. The event is free and open to all novice and experienced riders, road bikes and mountain bikes, with distances of five, 10 or 25 miles.

Helmets are required and riders must obey the rules of the road. Sign-up starts at 5:30 p.m. and the first rider goes off at 6 p.m.

Pine Ridge Bowmen to hold animal round on Sunday

PLATTSBURGH — The Pine Ridge Bowmen will be holding a 3D animal round shoot on Sunday. Registration is from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

This is the final shoot of the summer. Bring your hunting bows, range finders and shoot from any distance you feel comfortable at.

Trout Unlimited announces Saranac River clean-up

PLATTSBURGH — Trout Unlimited and the Plattsburgh State soccer team will conduct their annual Saranac River clean-up on Saturday, September 21.

Volunteers will gather at the Plattsburgh High School parking lot on Rugar Street at 9 a.m. Please wear old clothes, high top boots if you have them and gloves. Trash bags and a prize for the most unusual find will be provided.
