---- — CVBL schedules first golf tournament

ROUSES POINT — The Champlain Valley Baseball League is holding its first golf tournament on Saturday, Sept. 7 at North Country Golf Club. There will be a shotgun start, snacks provided and cash for first place.

Entry fee is $70 for non-members and $35 for members, with cart included. To enter a team, or for more information, contact Dustin at NCGC or Randy Lozier at 572-6563.


Saranac Booster Club golf tourney Sept. 22

PLATTSBURGH — The seventh-annual Saranac Booster Club Golf Tournament will be held Sept. 22 with a noon shotgun start at The Barracks Golf Course.

The format will be a four-person scramble, with no handicap. The entry fee of $60 for non-members and $45 for members includes greens fees, cart and a meal following the event. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams. Other awards will be given for closest to the pin, closest to the line and longest drive. A hole-in-one contest, skins game, mulligans, 50/50 drawing and a raffle are also planned.

North Country Handicap League to meet

PLATTSBURGH — The North Country Handicap Bowling League will meet at 6:30 p.m. on September 3 at North Bowl Lanes for a short meeting. The league will begin its bowling following the meeting.

Dave Hackett aces fourth career hole

PORT KENT — Dave Hackett recorded his third hole-in-one in the past two years — and fourth overall — at Harmony Golf Course Sunday.

Hackett aced the 140-yard sixth hole using an eight iron. Witnesses to the shot were Bob Harris, Tom Hackett and Chris Dubay.


ADK picnic set for Friday

PLATTSBURGH — The public is invited to join the Algonquin Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club at their public chapter picnic at Cumberland Bay State Park Friday.

The picnic will take place at the large building (rec. room) above the main entrance and parking lot from 5-8 p.m. Bring your own place setting and beverage, and a dish or dessert to share. Grills will be available.


Free kayak trip offered in Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH — The Town of Plattsburgh Parks & Recreation Department will be offering a free kayak trip to all Town of Plattsburgh active adults and seniors Sept. 10 from 10 a.m.-noon.

The event wills tart in Saranac at Picketts Corners Park at 10 a.m. and travel 6.3 miles down the river to the Cadyville Beach, which should take approximately two hours.

All equipment will be provided to those who need it, but those with their own are welcome to use it.

All participants must preregister prior to the trip by either stopping by or calling the Town of Plattsburgh Recreation Department at 151 Banker Rd or 562-6860. Space is limited so register today.


Sand Titans capture VFW 1418 volleyball title

CHAMPLAIN — The VFW 1418 Sand Titans captured the VFW 1418 coed volleyball tournament for the third consecutive year by defeating Camp Jericho.

Third place went to the Mooers Cheewees.
