---- — West Seneca loses in regional title game

CAMDEN, N.J. — West Seneca Post #735, which advanced through the loser’s bracket before defeating the Clinton County Senior Mariners, 6-0, in the New York State American Legion Baseball Tournament finals, nearly did the same in the American Legion Mid-Atlantic Regional.

West Seneca, with Matt Keating tossing a perfect game, won the state championship on August 4 over the Mariners. West Seneca dropped its first game of the tournament to Middletown Post #151, but rebounded to beat everyone the rest of the way in the eight-team, double-elimination event.

In the opening game of the Mid-Atlantic Regional, Boyertown, Pennsylvania recorded a 9-6 win over West Seneca, with Keating taking the loss.

West Seneca then posted an 8-5 win over Funkstown, Maryland, a 10-5 victory over South Charleston, West Virginia and a 6-1 decision over New Castle, Delaware to make it to the championship game in the eight-team regional.

But, in the finals, West Seneca fell to Brooklawn, New Jersey, 6-2, which was the host team in the event.
