Rascoe accounts for six TDs, Plattsburgh rolls past Vermont

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh North Stars had little trouble getting back on the winning track Saturday night.

Quarterback Harry Rascoe threw for four touchdowns and ran for two more as the North Stars (5-1) rolled to a 47-7 victory over the Vermont Ice Storm in Empire Football League play at the Plattsburgh High School Athletic Complex.

Plattsburgh, bouncing back from last weekend’s loss at Watertown, jumped out to a 33-0 lead at the half against the Ice Storm (1-5), a team it beat 49-0 to open the season.

“I was happy that we came out and took control of the game early,” North Stars coach Scott Aguglia said. “Especially after losing last weekend. It was important for us to get out early and re-establish the momentum we had the first time we played them.”

The North Stars wasted little time taking the lead for good Saturday night. D.J. Barber raced in from 33 yards out for a score on Plattsburgh’s second play from scrimmage.

Then with 7:59 gone in the first quarter, Rascoe tossed a 29-yard scoring pass to Jamil McCray and the North Stars held a 13-0 lead after one.

Rascoe then threw three touchdown passes in the second quarter — a 26-yarder to Dexter Geohagan, a 12-yarder to Chris Fish and a 21-yarder to Craig Bujold.

Elijah Parks helped set up the touchdown pass to Fish with a 28-yard run.

The North Stars also worked their two-minute drill to perfection late in the half, resulting in the touchdown by Bujold, who caught three passes on the drive.

Rascoe weaved his way for a 36-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and added a one-yard sneak in the fourth to cap the scoring. Barber connected on five of his seven extra-point attempts in the contest.

The Ice Storm avoided the shutout with 2:51 left in the contest when quarterback Brandon Beliveau found Jason Young on a 33-yard scoring strike on a fourth-down play.
