---- — LYON MOUNTAIN — David Waldron tossed a two-hit shutout in the opener and Tory Bouyea drove in five runs in the second game Sunday as the Lyon Mountain Miners swept a 6-0 and 13-3 doubleheader from the Fourth Ward Timberjaxx to take over sole possession of first place in the Champlain Valley Baseball League.
Waldron struck out nine, walked five and allowed a double to losing pitcher Eric Rock and a single to Josh Chapman in going the distance.
Kris Chase went three-for-three for the Miners, while Reilly Lawless added a double and single, Scott Baker a triple and Bouyea a double.
In the second contest, Bouyea accounted for a triple, double and five RBI for Lyon Mountain (6-2), while Waldron, Chase, Ben Weightman, Tommy Kowalowski and Josh Rabideau all added two hits each.
The Miners scored four runs in the first inning against losing pitcher Kyle Bisonette and didn’t look back.
Justin Mahan accounted for half of the Timberjaxx’s hits as he went three-for-three and Rock contributed a double.

PLATTSBURGH — Mark Passino’s three-run homer in the top of the fifth put Meron’s Expos ahead to stay in the second game, allowing the Expos to gain a split at South Acres Field.
In the opener, Tom Neale and Alex LaFountain combined on a two-hit shutout for the Fourth Ward Cardinals. Neale went the first five innings and LaFountain the final two to get the win.
The lone run of the game was scored in the sixth inning when Brian Latulipe singled and took second on an outfield error, and scored on Joe Tolosky’s single following an intentional walk to Frank Buksa.
Latulipe was the lone player in the game to get two hits.
Losing pitcher Billy Davis allowed five hits and struck out six in taking the tough loss. He and Passino had the lone hits for the Expos.
Nick Lamica went four-for-four to power the Expos in the nightcap. Paul Bruno, Cliff Conners and Todd Ford all chipped in with two hits each for Meron’s, which finished with 12 hits in all.
Davis, who pitched both games once again for the Expos, picked up the win.
Buksa and Tolosky paced the Cardinals with two hits apiece, with Buksa getting a double. Craig Bujold took the pitching loss.
