Reid, Hanna lead golfers at state tourney

ITHACA — Northeastern Clinton’s Nolan Reid carded a 79 on Sunday to lead Section VII’s participation at the NYSPHSAA Golf Championships, being held at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course on the campus of Cornell University.

Reid’s 79 was good enough for a tie for 28th place entering today’s final round.

Nyack’s Alex Ferrante was medalist on the day with a 71, followed by Susquehanna Valley’s D.J. Griffiths and Somers’ Christian Cavaliere, who both carded 73s.

Other scores for Section VII were Saranac Lake’s Dustin Fischer (81, 43rd), Plattsburgh High’s Nick Dodd (84, 57th), Peru’s Jordan Guay (91, 88th), Lake Placid’s Kiefer Casler (92, 90th), Saranac Lake’s Ethan Sawyer (94, 91st), Elizabethtown-Lewis’ Connor Marvin (95, 94th), Saranac Lake’s Teddy Yanchitis (100, 96th) and Saranac’s Austin LaDieu (101, 97th).

Section V leads the team competition with a 536 score. Section X is 10th with a 600 and Section VII 11th with a 616.

Leading the way for Section X was Franklin Academy’s Evan Hanna, who is tied for 23rd with a 78. Brushton-Moira’s Devin Delisle is tied for 33rd with an 80.
