---- — SAANYS golf tournament set for July 14

PORT KENT — The 21st-Annual SAANYS Golf Tournament will be played at the Harmony Golf Course on Sunday, July 14, at noon.

The tournament is a fundraiser for providing scholarships to graduating seniors planning to attend college. All students from the CEWW and FEH BOCES are eligible.


USA Hockey camp tickets on sale

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Tickets are currently on sale for the 2013 USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp that will take place Aug. 3 to 10 in Lake Placid. Team USA will face Canada, Finland and Sweden throughout the week in preparation for the 2014 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship, Dec. 26, 2013 to Jan. 5, 2014, in Malmo, Sweden.

Tickets can be purchased online at, by phone at 523-3330 or in person at the Olympic Center Box Office. A single-day ticket, which include two games, is available to adults for $15, while students (17 & under) and seniors (65 & older) are $10. A full-session pass, which includes 10 games, is $70 for adults and $45 for students and seniors. All games will be played at the Olympic Center’s 1980 Herb Brooks Arena.


Volleyball camps set for July

BEEKMANTOWN — The 8th-Annual Volleyball Academy and Junior Digger summer camps will be held in July. The Junior Digger Camp (girls entering sixth through ninth grades) will be July 9 to 11 from 9 to 11 a.m. The Academy (JV and Varsity level) will be held July 15 to 19. Strength and Conditioning Camp starts June 24

PLATTSBURGH — Champlain Valley Athletic Performance will be hosting its 10th-annual Strength and Conditioning Camp beginning June 24 and ending August 1. The camp is designed to prepare all student-athletes for the fall season as modified, Junior Varsity or varsity competitors. We also welcome all ages who are interested in injury prevention and all sport preparation.

The camp will run six consecutive weeks with a comprehensive plan moving campers through general strength, strength and power phases of training. The goal is to enhance speed, agility, endurance and mobility throughout the summer. The camp will be located at 52 U.S. Oval Gymnasium. Seton Catholic posts secondweek of boys’ basketball camp

PLATTSBURGH — Seton Catholic will host the second week of boys’ basketball camp July 15 to 19. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the doors opening at 8:10 a.m.

The price will be $130 for new campers and $110 for returning campers. All campers will receive a camp shirt, ball and evaluation form. Whiteface Club & Resort to host Open Golf Championship

LAKE PLACID – One of the Adirondacks’ most challenging and scenic golf courses will host the Whiteface Open Championship July 13 and 14.

The par 71 Whiteface Club and Resort will welcome a field of men and women amateurs and professionals in a variety of age groups, including seniors and super seniors.

The senior division is for players 50 to 65 years of age, while the super seniors are for players 66 and older.

The entry fee of $150 ($75 for Whiteface Club members) includes a practice round on July 12 after 1 p.m., 36 holes of stroke-play competition and a camp shirt. The fee includes golf carts for the tournament rounds; carts may be rented for the practice round.

Several thousand dollars in prizes will be awarded in gross and net divisions for the amateurs, highlighted by free 2014 golf membership for the single low gross score of the tournament (men and women). There will be prizes for both low gross and low net scores in each division.
