Orange edge Jaguars, 32-29, in MVAC boys' basketball

NORTH CREEK — Henry Sandiford led a balanced Indian Lake/Long Lake scoring attack with nine points as the Orange narrowly edged Johnsburg, 32-29, in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference boys’ basketball Wednesday.

The Jaguars had a 10-8 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Indian Lake/Long Lake outscored them, 18-5 over the next two quarters. Johnsburg made it close by outscoring Orange, 14-6, in the fourth quarter, but in the end the deficit was too deep for the home team to overcome.

Curtis Seaman contributed six points of his own, with two 3-point buckets for Indian Lake/Long Lake.

Marc Cleveland led the Jaguars with a staggering 17 rebounds.

Westport 41, Lake Placid 21

LAKE PLACID — Ryan Davis had 14 points and 11 rebounds to help the Eagles beat the Blue Bombers.

“Ryan Davis had a double-double and played exceptionally well,” Lake Placid coach Brenden Gotham said. “He controlled the paint and played a great game. We had no answer for him.”

Anderson Gay added 13 points for Westport.

Tarik Cecujanin paced Lake Placid with 10 points.

ELIZABETHTOWN — Jesse Shaughnessy dropped in 20 points to lead the Wildcats past the Lions.

Jeff Armstrong and Tanner Stone both scored nine for Schroon Lake.

Zac Noka-Bailey led Elizabethtown-Lewis with eight points.

Crown Point 54, Keene 41

KEENE — Gabe Macey scored 18 points as the Panthers held off the Beavers.

Ryan Worth added 10 points for Crown Point, and Michael Dushane had eight. The Panthers hit 12-of-18 free throws in the fourth quarter to maintain their lead.

“Crown Point played a strong game,” Keene coach Chad Lopez said. “They definitely made their free throws down the stretch. They did a good job being strong with the ball and fundamental down the stretch.”

Colton Venner led Keene with 17 points, Austin Brown had 10 and Gabe Warner scored eight.

Chazy 48, Willsboro 23

WILLISBORO — The visiting Eagles were hot from the floor, knocking down eight 3-pointers from five different players, to defeat the Warriors on their Senior Night.

Hayden Guay and Keenen Hampton had 10 points apiece for Chazy.

Willsboro was unable to compete with Chazy’s hot scoring as it fell behind 36-11 at the end of the first half.

Seth Swires led the Warriors with eight points. Senior Walker Lobdell also had a solid night for Willsboro, finishing withh six points.
