SARANAC — The Saranac Central youth wrestling program for children in grades kindergarten through second will begin Wednesday, not Tuesday.
Interested boys and girls are invited to attend at Saranac Elementary School, from 5:30-7 p.m.

Fox earns SUNYAC rookie honors
CORTLAND — Dillan Fox of the Plattsburgh State men’s hockey team has been named SUNY Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending Feb. 3.
The Hummelstown, Pa. native figured in three of the four goals Plattsburgh State scored over the weekend, registering two goals and one assist. On Friday, Fox assisted on a power-play goal in the first period before netting the eventual game-winner in the second period of the Cardinals’ 3-2 win at Buffalo State. He also scored a power-play goal late in the second period of Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Fredonia.
With nine points in the last six games, Fox is now tied for third in team scoring with 13 points.
The Cardinals return home for the last four games of the regular season, beginning with a pivotal SUNYAC matchup on Friday against Geneseo. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
K of C free throw contest set for Feb. 10
MOOERS — The Champlain Knights of Columbus will hold its annual free throw championship on Feb. 10 at St. Mary’s gymnasium in Champlain. The contest will begin at noon with registration slated for 11:45 a.m.
All area girls and boys ages 10-14 (cutoff date of Jan. 1, 2013) are eligible. Level winners will be required to present a birth certificate before moving on to the district level competition, which will be held immediately following at 2:15 pm.

Carpenter golf tourney scheduled for Aug. 3
PORT HENRY — The Brian T. Carpenter Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3 at the Moriah Country Club. The proceeds will benefit the Carpenter Memorial Fund.
The format will be a two-person scramble, with no handicap. There will be a pig roast luncheon. There will be an optional skins game, putting contests and raffles. A shotgun start is set for 8 a.m.
Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration forms and payment information will be emailed/sent in April/May. Forms and payment must be returned via USPS to secure a place in the tournament.
