Myler's 21 propels Mountaineers past Eagles in OT

NORTH CREEK — Astasia Myler scored 21 points, five of them coming in overtime, as Johnsburg held off Westport, 50-49, in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference girls’ basketball action Friday.

The Jaguars outscored the Eagles 33-28 through three quarter before Westport charged back to send the game into overtime.

The Eagles had strong production from Brendee Russell with 15 points and Sarah Looby, 14 points. Felicia kurth chipped in with seven in the loss.

Mikayla Glode tallied 14 points for Johnsburg, while Kayla Williford scored 10.

ELIZABETHTOWN — Lily Whalen led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points, six rebounds and six steals to help lead the Lions over the Mountaineers.

Elizabethtown-Lewis took a 32-21 lead into the half before putting the clamps down defensively in the second. Minerva/Newcomb was unable to score a single point in the half.

Shonna Brooks and Kearstin Ashline each added 12 points for the Lions. Ashline also contributed five steals. Jasmin Barnes finished with nine points, 10 rebounds and five steals.

Kylee Cassavaugh had five assists in the game and also held Mountaineers leading scorer Makenzie Winslow to two points.

Gabby McNally led Minerva/Newcomb with 11 points

Crown Point 28, Schroon Lake 20

CROWN POINT — Amanda Wolfe was the top earner of the game grabbing 13 points for the Panthers giving her team their second win of the season.

Wolfe scored all seven of her teams first quarter points before getting into foul trouble and seeing sporadic playing time the rest of the game. She fouled out midway through the fourth quarter.
