SARANAC — The Saranac wrestling team did something it hadn’t done in over 20 years Wednesday night — beat Northern Adirondack twice in a season.
The Chiefs (7-7, 4-0) remained unbeaten in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference with a 41-29 decision over the Bobcats.

“We definitely wrestled better than we did in the Peru Tournament last weekend,” said Saranac coach Heath Smith.
“It’s been quite a while since we beat NAC twice in a season. There were a lot of close matches tonight that could have gone either way. We were fortunate to win most of them.”
Recording pins for the Chiefs were Paul Herrera at 220 pounds and John Devins at 99.
Five Chiefs won by decision — Rafael Rivera at 126, Austin LaTulip at 132, Will Marcil at 138, Codie Gillette at 145 and Michael Charland with a 4-3 win at 170. Shawn LaGraves was a forfeit winner at 113.
Justin Kellett (160), Matt Lashway (182) and Scott Guerin (285) won by fall for the Bobcats and Austin Trombley (106) by technical fall.
The best match of the evening was NAC’s Hunter Carpenter with a 2-1 win over James Black at 152. Rusty Pombio recorded a 2-0 decision at 120 for the Bobcats (16-6, 2-3).
Saranac took the early advantage by winning five of the first six matches, including four in a row by decision.
