Barnes powers Lions to one-run win

ELIZABETHTOWN — Jasmine Barnes had three hits and three RBI as Elizabethtown-Lewis held off Keene 15-14 in a Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference makeup softball game Tuesday.

Keene led 9-3 after three innings, but the Lions scored 12 runs over their last three innings. With the score knotted at 12 in the sixth, Thea Wescott and Chantel St. Denis both drew bases-loaded walks and Emily Morris hit a sacrifice fly, giving Elizabethtown-Lewis a three-run cushion.

The Beavers plated two in the top of the seventh and had two runners in scoring position when the Lions recorded the final out.

St. Denis went the distance in the pitching circle to pick up the win. Jessica Spaulding had two RBI for Elizabethtown-Lewis.

Megan Hall led Keene with a triple and a single. Tucker Geiger pitched four innings and took the loss.
