Peru closes CVAC tennis with 5-0 defeat of Beekmantown

PERU — The Peru Indians wrapped up a 6-2 season Tuesday with a 5-0 win over Beekmantown in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls’ tennis.

Margaret Mitchell, Kari Kusalonis and Karley Goddeau-Stefaniak each recorded straight-set victories in their singles matches.

Taylor Higgins and Anna Mitchell didn’t drop a game in their victory at No. 1 doubles, while Nicole Mooney and Bryn Mousseau also came away with a win in their doubles match.

The state qualifying meet, originally scheduled to begin Thursday, will now run from Friday to Saturday.

No. 1- M. Mitchell (P) def. Stitt, 6-0, 6-3. No. 2- Kusalonis (P) def. H. LaFountain, 6-2, 6-3. No. 3- Goddeau-Stefaniak (P) def. Belrose, 6-1, 6-0.

Doubles

No. 1- Higgins/A. Mitchell (P) def. Bull/Vincencio, 6-0, 6-0. No. 2- Mooney/Mousseau (P) def. Bjelko/H. LaFountian, 6-2, 6-0.
