Blue Bombers knock off Cougars in CVAC golf

LAKE PLACID — Lake Placid won matches No. 3 through No. 6 Wednesday to record a 4½-1½ victory over Northeastern Clinton in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference golf at Craig Wood Golf Course.

The Blue Bombers’ Kiefer Casler and the Cougars’ Nolan Reid, who shared medalist honors with 38s, halved their No. 1 match and Alex Duffy, who carded a 40, won his No. 2 match for NCCS.

But Ryan Kane (41), Pat Kane (44), Lucas Strack (47) and Bjorn Kroes (43) all followed with victories for the Blue Bombers, who are 7-2 on the season.

SARANAC LAKE — Ethan Sawyer and Teddy Yanchitis shared medalist honors with 39s to lead the Red Storm over the Patriots at the Saranac Lake Golf Club.

Saranac Lake improved its record to 8-1 and closes out the regular season schedule against Saranac today at the Saranac Lake Golf Club.

Dustin Fischer carded a 40 for the Red Storm, while Blake Gregory, Austin Ecret and Carly Sawyer also won their matches.

Nate Devins and Riley Taylor each shot a 46 for the Patriots.

PLATTSBURGH — Dylan Plumadore recorded a 44-45 victory over Kyle Wilson in the No. 3 match to help lead the Chiefs (5-4), who have won four of their last five matches. Plumadore was medalist on the day, with Wilson one stroke back. The match between the two was even going into the final hole.

Austin LaDieu, Nick Lees (46), Max Staley and Zach Daniels also won matches for Saranac, while the Chiefs’ Nick Daniels halved with the Vikings’ Travis Nephew in the No. 5 encounter.
