LaValley, Marks lead NCCS tennis

SARANAC — Jenna LaValley and Kayla Napper had an outstanding duel at No. 2 singles Friday.

LaValley outlasted Napper, 7-6(7-2), 4-6, 6-2 to lead Northeastern Clinton to a 3-2 victory over Saranac in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls’ tennis.

Abbie Miller added a singles victory for the Cougars, while Morgan Rabideau and Sarah Babbie were winners at No. 2 doubles.

Emma Newell was a winner at No. 3 singles for the Chiefs. Amie Eggleston and Kristen Napper captured the win at No. 1 doubles.

Like the girls’ match, the No. 1 singles in boys’ tennis was also tightly contested.

Northeastern Clinton’s Ryan Marks held off Shawn Bissonette, 6-4, 1-6, 7-5, to help the Cougars to a 3-2 win.

Northeastern Clinton swept the doubles with wins by Adam Khater and McKenna Hunter, and Troy Tetreault and Devin McManus.

Dylan Christopherson and Mark LaPointe each won in singles for Saranac.

ELLENBURG — Hannah Charland rallied from a first set loss to capture No. 1 singles and help propel the Bobcats over the Knights in girls’ tennis.

Seton Catholic actually won more matches on the day, but had to suffer two forfeits at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles.

Shannon Egan captured No. 2 singles for the Knights, while Lauren Richter and Alyse Clark won in No. 1 doubles.

Jared Brunelle and Steven Warick needed a tiebreaker in the second set, but won their No. 1 doubles match in two sets to lead the Northern Adirondack boys.

Just Kellett, Nolan Fergusson and Scott Kellett each won their singles matches. Eli Viars and Evan Gagnier picked up a win in No. 2 doubles.

PERU 4, AUSABLE 1

PERU — Kari Kusalonis captured a tough, three-set match against Ashley Guynup to help lead the Indians over the Patriots.

Kusalonis won at No. 2 singles with scores of 7-5, 5-7, 6-2.

Margaret Mitchell and Taylor Higgins also picked up wins for Peru in singles. Bryn Mousseau and Danielle Clemons were winners at No. 2 doubles.

AuSable Valley picked up a win at No. 1 doubles with Alexis Willett and Maddy Hall taking the victory.

Johnny McAuliffe, Connor Bond and Zachary Hamilton captured wins in singles for Peru. The Indians took two wins by forfeit in doubles.

BEEKMANTOWN — The Hornets picked up straight-set wins in all five of their matches against the Eagles.

Marle Curle, Kelsey Senecal and Olivia Carlsson captured wins in singles.

Emily Kneifel and Ashley Marlow, and Hanna LeClair and Kelly Cantwell were winners in doubles.
