B'town spikers still flying high

BEEKMANTOWN — Beekmantown continued its unbeaten streak this season with a three-set sweep of scores 25-7, 25-14, 25-15 against Northeastern Clinton in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference volleyball Monday.

Michaela Lafountain had a big day for the Eagles with 10 points, five aces and 11 assists while Jordynne Ales had 10 points and five aces. Shannon Ryan had a team-high seven kills while Lafountain and Grace Kelly both had three digs.

Middle blocker Ashley McCoy had six points and two digs for the Cougars and libero Emily Boyer contributed with a team-high 10 digs.

AUSABLE VALLEY — Miranda Sheffer and Noelle Miller both had double-digit point totals and Belle O’Toole dished 17 assists as AuSable Valley swept Peru in three games with scores of 25-11, 25-13, 25-22.

Sheffer finished the day with 15 points while Miller had 14 points with a team-high 11 kills. Libero Alexandra Lincoln had 15 dig with 3 points and three assists.

Brittany Kelso led the Indians with 11 points and Lea Perry contributed five points with two aces, eight assists and five digs. Brooke Wyand added four digs and three points.

PLATTSBURGH — Deanna LaBarge had 10 points and Kadijah Brown had 10 kills to help lead Plattsburgh (11-4) past Saranac Lake (5-11) as the Hornets won three of four sets with scores of 25-8, 25-9, 25-27, 25-20.

Kianna Dragoon led the Hornets with 23 assists while Brown, LaBarge and Kayla Boise each had three aces. Boise also had a team-high seven digs.

Kylie Sapone paced the Red Storm with nine points, seven assists and five aces. Emily Fountain contributed with four points, five assists, two aces, and four kills. Nicole Viscardo had a team-high two blocks, five digs and six kills.

ELLENBURG — Northern Adirondack completed a three-set sweep of Saranac with help from Shonni Velazquez’s 15 points and Zoey Varin’s 11 points. The Bobcats won with scores of 25-6, 25-22, 25-11.

In addition to her 15 points, Velazquez also had six aces, four kills, one assist and two digs. Emma Trombley poured in 10 points with five aces, two kills and nine assists. MacKenzie Fountain finished with a team-high 10 assists,

Outside hitter Ashley Byerley contributed 14 points and eight aces for the Chiefs and Sara Wood put up five kills.
