---- — 200-plus competein Cadyville fun run

CADYVILLE — Over 200 runners came out to participate in week two of the Cadyville Fun Run Series held on June 26.

Jeremy Drowne won the 5K in 17:20 and Kelly Duffy-Coryer was the first female finisher in 20:33. Caleb Moore won the one-mile run in 6:32, Louis Sweenor the one-half mile run in 3:43 and Grace Willmott the one-quarter mile run in 2:00.

The fun runs, sponsored by the Town of Plattsburgh and CVPH, are held on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. at the Cadyville Recreation Center. Registration begins at 5:15 p.m. and is free and open to runners of all ages and abilities.

NYSEF Open winners announced

LAKE PLACID — The 15th annual New York Ski Educational Foundation (NYSEF) Open Golf Tournament was held June 9 at the Lake Placid Club. More than 30 teams played in a traditional scramble format on the historic Mountain Course. Several NYSEF alumni, athletes, and supporters, including Tommy Biesemeyer and Andrew Weibrecht of the U.S. Ski Team, joined in the match in support of NYSEF.

The winning team took home the NYSEF Open Cup and drew first choice from the prize table.

Michelob Golf Classic set forJuly 21

PLATTSBURGH — Plattsburgh Distributing will host the Michelob Golf Classic July 21 at Bluff Point Golf Resort. The Michelob is believed to be the longest-running local golf event, dating back more than 40 years.

The event will be individual medal play, and players will be flighted according to their handicaps. There will be three or four flights, based on entries. Participants age 65 and older may play from the gold tees, assuming they have an established handicap from the golds. Players are encouraged to enter as foursomes, but individuals will be accepted and paired up. There will be gross and net prizes in each flight as well as an optional skins game.

The cost is $30 for members and $60 for non-members. Space is limited, and players are encouraged to sign up early. To sign up, contact Casey at kcflynn11@charter.net or 572-7479.

Adirondack Fly Fishing Festival July 13

KEENE VALLEY — The Mountaineer will host the First-Annual Adirondack Fly Fishing Festival on July 13. This festival will give anglers of all abilities the chance to hone their skills and demo new equipment. Free ECHO rod demos, free casting clinics led by local guide Ken Kalil, and local fly tier demonstrations will take place at The Mountaineer from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. No registration is required for the free demos and clinics.

Those looking for more in-depth instruction can register for the all-day Fly Fishing School led by local guide and Federation of Fly Fishers Casting Instructor Stan Oliva. Half of the day will be spent in the classroom, and half will be spent outside practicing casting techniques. Pre-registration is required, and the price is $100. The Festival will be capped off with a film — “SOULFISH 2” by Mikey Wier — and reception at the Keene Arts Playhouse, located on Route 73 in Keene (between Stewart’s and Town Hall). Tickets are $10 at the door, with proceeds benefiting the Au Sable and Boquet River Associations. Refreshments will be provided. There will also be a raffle of gear.
