MADRID — Brianna Cook scored nine points as Chateaugay defeated Madrid-Waddington 33-28 Wednesday in Northern Athletic Conference girls’ basketball.

The Bulldogs were ahead 19-8 at halftime, and then the Yellowjackets made it close by outscoring Chateaugay 20-14 in the second half.

“Madrid is an outstanding team and well coached,” Chateaugay coach Chris Reynolds said. “Every girl we had (Wednesday) put in quality minutes.

“Always going to be a battle when you play Madrid. You can throw out the records because you’re going to have to grind it out.”

Hannah Cook had eight points and five steals for Chateaugay, and Caitlin Miller scored six, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked four shots.

Olivia Parmeter supplied nearly half of Madrid-Waddington’s offense with 13 points, and Jenn King tossed in 10.
