Saranac, Peru claim wins in CVAC wrestling

BEEKMANTOWN — The Saranac wrestling team moved closer to wrapping up the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference championship outright with a 46-27 win over Beekmantown Wednesday night.

Colby Staley (182), Jacob Nolan (99) and Rafael Rivera (126) recorded pins for the Chiefs, who are unbeaten in the league at 6-0. Saranac clinched no worse than a tie for the crown, with only defending champion Peru (4-2) still mathematically alive.

Tony Bushey (285), Johnny Devins (106), Brandon Yip (113), Chad Brooks (120) and Sean Ahern (138) won by decision for the Chiefs, while James Black (160) and Codie Gillette (145) won by forfeit, giving Saranac wins in 10 of the 15 matches.

Dylan Peryea (170), Brandon Defayette (195) and Bruce Goddeau (220) won by fall for the Eagles (4-3), while Eathan Bacon (152) was a winner by decision and Jon Graziane (132) by forfeit.

Dustin Neyer (220), Colin Hogan (120), John Gallo (126), Ethan Feazelle (132), David Stickney (138) and Jordan Bushey (160) were winners by decision for Peru, which turned in a solid team performance with 12 wins in 15 matches.

Leon Riley (182) an Matt Lashway (195) started the match with pins for the Bobcats and Roland LaPoint (113) won by decision.
