Cluckey leads Saranac Lake over Tupper, 4-1

SARANAC LAKE — David Cluckey’s four-point night helped the Saranac Lake boys’ hockey team snap its two-game skid in a 4-1 nonleague win over Tupper Lake Monday.

Cluckey, a captain, helped the Red Storm (3-5-1) to a two-goal lead with just five minutes and 52 seconds gone in the opening frame.

After Devin Roberge cut Saranac Lake’s advantage in half with a tally at the end of the first period, Brett Dawson solidified the victory with two third-period goals.

Blake Darrah was credited with the win between the pipes, fending off 33-of-34 shots faced. Tyler Nilsson accumulated 23 saves in the three-goal loss for the Lumberjacks.

Tupper Lake was able to manage a 34-27 advantage in shots on goal in the tilt.
