Kustos, Tedford lead Seton Catholic by Westport

WESTPORT — Seton Catholic broke open a close game with a 14-3 run in the fourth quarter Wednesday night on the way to a 54-38 victory over Westport in Northern Basketball League boys’ play.

The Knights used a 15-7 burst in the second quarter to take a 28-20 halftime advantage. But the Eagles cut into the deficit some and trailed, 40-35, after three.

Adam Tedford led Seton Catholic offensively with 16 points, while Chris Kustos added 14 and Nic Favreau, 10. Briggs and Favreau each added 12 rebounds, with eight of Favreau’s coming on the offensive end. Kaden Baugh dished out five assists.

Ryan Davis and Anderson Gay paced Westport with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

“Davis played real well for them,” Seton Catholic coach Larry Converse said.

“We just got after it more in the fourth quarter and picked up the intensity. We also did a very good job passing the ball against their zone and getting good looks.”
