Dan Willette chips in with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. The Knights then defeat Galway 55-45 to reach the Final Four for the first time. Willette scores 15, Mark Rabideau, 12, and Ian Luck, 11.
▶ Kristin LaVallie scores 16 points, Katie Meserve adds 15 and Tasia Osier, 13, to lead Ticonderoga over Norwood-Norfolk 62-40 in Class C regional basketball play.
▶ Aimee Marsh tallies 16 points and pulls down 12 rebounds while Terry Conley chips in with 15 points to lead Westport to a 50-46 triumph over Whitehall in the Class D regionals. Conley and Ashley Sherman turn in big second-half efforts for the Eagles.
▶ Jason Jabaut is a member of Villanova University's distance-medley relay team that finishes first in the NCAA Div. I Indoor Track & Field Championships.

E Moriah's Phil Huchro sets a meet diving record while PHS's Curt Hanover breaks the mark for the 100-yard breaststroke in the North Country Swimming & Diving Championships.
▶ Peru's Rob Bashaw drops a 7-4 decision in the final at 119 pounds at the state wrestling championships.
▶ MVP Steve Moore leads Plattsburgh State back from a 2-0 deficit to a 6-3 victory over Mercyhurst, giving the Cardinals their fourth ECAC West hockey crown.
▶ Jane Nicknish and Kelli O'Connell spark St. John's to a 51-39 triumph over Ogdensburg in a girls' Class B basketball regional.
▶ Julie Moore, Erin Pratt, Mika Conley and Sherry White all wind up in double figures to lead Westport over Colton-Pierrepont 62-35 in the Class D regionals.
25 YEARS AGO (1987)
E Rita Boule scores 16 points to lead MAI to a 45-44 win over Northeastern Clinton in the Section VII Class B final.
▶ Shannon Andrews tallies 17 points and Liz Pearl contributes 10 points and 14 rebounds as St. John's beats Beekmantown 50-34 for the Class C crown.
▶ Audra Mazdzer hits for 14 points and Sharie Slosson adds 9 points and 18 rebounds to lead Chazy to a 41-28 win over Schroon Lake in the Class D title game.

Chris Hay and Russell Holland also score while Ricky Garrand makes 17 saves for the shutout. The French Connection of Martin Lebonte, Marc Lussier and Stephane Durocher account for 17 points in MAI's 10-4 blowout of Rush-Henrietta.

▶ Kim Fountain, Pat Devlin and Bruce Gordon lead AuSable Valley to a sweep of the Section VII bowling championships.
▶ Brian Passino collects 21 points and 15 rebounds while Anthony Sampson contributes 11 points to Peru's 53-42 victory over PHS in the Section VII Class B final. Angelo Sutton leads the Hornets with 18 points.
▶ Tom Kelsh tallies 16 points and Joel Revette, 12, to lead Saranac to a 54-45 win over AuSable Valley in the Class C title game. Doug Hackett scores 16 for the Patriots.
▶ Tim Coplen comes up with 29 points and 10 rebounds as Dannemora downs Minerva 65-50 for the Class D crown. Steve LaDuke chips in with 13 points. Bill Gereau scores 16 to lead Minerva.
▶ Dan Manning and Will D'Aran each claim 3 firsts to lead Plattsburgh High to the swimming championship.

▶ Ed Barrie scores 21 points and grabs 14 rebounds while Dave Ghiloni chips in with 14 points as AuSable Valley avenges its only loss of the year, beating St. John's 50-43 in the Section VII Class A final. Greg Buckley leads the Irish with 11.
▶ Mike Jerdo hits for 19 points to spark Willsboro to a 50-43 triumph over Elizabethtown-Lewis in the Class B final. Dave Olcott nets 15 for the Lions.
▶ Mike Agoney, Jim Adams, Tom Everett, Mike Kivett, Don Duprey and Tab Bourgeois win their weight classes to lead Peru to a record-setting ttriumph in the Section VII wrestling championships. Saranac's Clyde Rabideau is named the Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament while Beekmantown's Al Devins, Chuck Martin of PHS, Kevin Curry of NAC, and Ron LeClair and Bob Trudeau of Saranac capture their weight titles.
▶ Les Lucas scores twice and Kurt Tobrocke, Tim O'Connell and Paul O'Connell once each to lead the Montcalm Bulldogs to a 5-0 victory over The Store for the Mayor's Cup broomball championship. Brad Ott stops 8 shots for the shutout while Brian Power turns aside 16 for The Store.
50 YEARS AGO (1962)
▶ Mike Raymaley, 14, wins the MacKenzie Trophy Ski Race at Whiteface. The Plattsburgh native is a freshman at Northwood School.
▶ Pat Gregory drops in 21 points as St. John's defeats PHS 58-51 for the Sorensen Trophy. Fran Wilkins leads PHS with 17. PHS rebounds to dump Mineville 73-62 in the Section VII Class A quarterfinals. Wilkins nets 23 and James Defayette, 14, for PHS. Bob Mitchell leads Mineville with 14.
▶ Jim Murdock's 17-point effort paces Port Henry to a 53-45 win over Peru in Class A. Tom Baker leads Peru with 20 points.
▶ Jack Glasgow pours in 36 points and Don Garrow adds 24 as Beekmantown downs Ticonderoga 73-56 in a Class A playoff. Dick Liddell paces the Sentinels with 18.
60 YEARS AGO (1952)
▶ Norm Votraw nets 17 points to lead St. John's to a 46-40 win and the first Fran-Clinton basketball crown. LaForest and Dukette each score 11 for Dannemora.
▶ Earl Wells tallies 15 points for Champlain College in a 60-49 loss to Norwich University.
▶ Bob Garrow scores 20 points and Jim Sears, 16, to cap their collegiate careers on a winning note with a 62-60 victory over Norwich University.
▶ Jim Reid hits for 15 points as Lake Placid upsets Plattsburgh High 42-36. Wayne Benson leads PHS with 15.
▶ Bob Premore tallies 18 points to lead OLVA to a 47-36 victory over Dannemora.
70 YEARS AGO (1942)
▶ Harry Carpenter tallies 10 points to lead St. John's to a 25-23 win over St. Joseph's, ending the season-long, 15-game winning streak of the Malone club. Guerin leads the Purple Tide with 10 points.
▶ Harold Stokes sinks a field goal in overtime to give PHS a 27-24 victory over St. John's, avenging an earlier loss to the Green and White.
▶ Bob Pepper scores 24 points as the Ayerst Five upsets the Bombay Hindus 59-38. Jim Rovito leads the Hindus with 19. Ayerst then knocks off Joe Gilbo's All-Stars 53-42 despite 26 points from Peter Betrus.
