Laurin leads Chazy past Westport in MVAC hoops

WESTPORT — Brandon Laurin scored 12 points and Chazy showed off its quickness in a 52-37 win over Westport in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference boys’ basketball Wednesday.

Alec Lapierre added 10 points for Chazy, and Craig Botten tossed in nine.

Chazy led by six at halftime and then outscored Westport 20-7 in the third quarter. Westport was hurt by 36 turnovers in the game.

“Their quickness took over in the third period, and we didn’t catch up,” Westport coach Ike Tyler said. “They’re a very quick team.

“We played well in the first half. I have a young team; we start four freshmen and a junior. This was a learning experience for them — the quickness that Chazy displayed.”

Ryan Davis paced Westport with 10 points, and Sam Napper scored eight.

Elizabethtown-Lewis 43, Willsboro 33

WILLSBORO — Charlie Huttig shot the ball well from the outside as he connected on five three-pointers and finished with a game-high 19 points to lead the Lions past the Warriors.

Justin LaPier added six points for E’town-Lewis, which jumped out to a 13-7 lead in the first quarter.

Nick Arnold paced the Warriors with nine points and was followed by Brandon Porter with eight and Sam Politi, seven.

NORTH CREEK — Gabe Macey led four Crown Point players in double figures with 12 points.

Mike Gould and Joe Foote chipped in with 11 points apiece, while Ryan Worth added 10.

The Panthers, who did a nice job on the boards, outscored the Jaguars, 14-6, in the second quarter to take a 26-16 advantage into the half.

Dylan Moore connected on a trio of three-pointers and led Johnsburg with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Austin Washburn contributed 11 points.

LAKE PLACID — Jesse Shaughnessy and Tanner Stone each tallied 18 points to lead the Wildcats over the Blue Bombers.

Schroon Lake came out strong in both the first and third quarter, scoring a combined 40 points in those quarters.

Jeff Armstrong added nine points for the Wildcats with Caleb Maisonville finishing with seven.

Tarik Cecunjanin led the way for Lake Placid with 11 points. Alex Brandes chipped in with nine points.
