Rich helps Ti past NAC in girls' basketball

ELLENBURG — Andrea Rich led all scorers with 17 points as Ticonderoga outlasted Northern Adirondack 33-28 Tuesday in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls’ basketball.

The Sentinels held a slim 24-22 lead heading into the fourth and then kept the Bobcats to six points.

Kylie Austin added eight points for Ticonderoga.

Rachael Venne paced Northern Adirondack with 12 points, and Jillian Scott scored 10.

LAKE PLACID — Paige Spittler had a strong game for the Knights, scoring a game-high 16 points.

Samantha Bashaw added six for Seton Catholic, which pulled away by outscoring Lake Placid 9-0 in the third quarter.

“We had a rough third quarter — our shooting percentage was not good in the third, and they played great defense,” Lake Placid coach Jeff Potter said. “They shut us down.”

Hanna Potter paced the Blue Bombers with six points.

CHAZY — Brendee Russell scored 13 points to help lead Westport past Chazy.

Sarah Looby added 11 points for Westport while Felicia Kurth chipped in with nine points.

Ninth-grader Allison Tatro paced Chazy with 12 points. Courtney Gilmore added seven points and seven rebounds, while Andrea Meshefsky finished with nine rebounds and eight blocks.

Whalen added seven steals and five rebounds, while Kylee Cassavaugh had six assists and five rebounds. Emma Disogra and Jen McGinn both had five rebounds, with Jasmin Barnes finishing with six rebounds and five steals.

Kyli Swires paced Willsboro with 12 points. Amanda Mahoney finished with 10.

TUPPER LAKE — Katie Stuart poured in 22 points and added six rebounds and four steals to lead the Lumberjacks past the Larries.

Lizzie Zurek contributed eight points and 11 rebounds for the Lumberjacks, who led by seven heading into the fourth quarter.

“We had a lead, and they just kept fighting back,” Tupper Lake coach Jenn Cook said. “And we were able to hold them off.”

Breanna Vatter led St. Lawrence with 14 points.
