Lake Placid falls in girls' hockey

LAKE PLACID — Kalie Grant and Kady Hart both had three-point nights as Potsdam beat Lake Placid 5-3, Monday, in North Country girls’ hockey action.

Grant gave the Sandstoners an early 1-0 lead when she found the back of the net just 53 seconds into the game. Hart added a goal less than two minutes later for the 2-0 lead. Lake Placid, however, responded with back-to-back goals by Samantha Barney to tie the game at 2-2 at the end of the period.

Six minutes into the second period, Grant broke the tie with help from Sierra Gagnon and Ally Miller. The Blue Bombers answered with a Kendra Manning tally. Potsdam regained the second period lead when Megan Stevenson scored.

Miller scored the fifth and final goal for Potsdam in the third period.

Sidney Molar made seven saves in net for the Sandstoners while Tanner Stanton had 28 stops for the Blue Bombers.
