---- — Plattsburgh’s Mulholland completes Stone Cat 50-mile Trail Run
IPSWICH, MASS — Plattsburgh resident Dr. Jonathan Mulholland completed the Stone Cat 50-mile Trail Run on Nov. 3, in Ipswich Mass.
He finished the challenging trail run in 8:18:00, which grabbed him 19th place out of 200 runners. Two weeks later he competed in the inaugural Spartan Sprint Adventure Race in Fenway Park. He completed the obstacle course in 37:19 to claim second place out of over 3000 racers.
The Scotts’ Memorial Rink offering free skating
CHAZY — The Town of Chazy will be offering free skating at The Scotts’ Memorial Rink every Sunday starting Nov. 25 and ending March 10, 2013. This is open to all residents in the Town of Chazy and guests.
Ticonderoga Elks Lodge #1494 to hold Hoop Shoot
TICONDEROGA — The Ticonderoga Elks Lodge #1494 will hold their Hoop Shoot on Saturday, Dec. 8. The event will take place at the Ticonderoga Middle School. Registration will be from 9-10 a.m. with the contest beginning at 10 a.m.
The contest is open to boys and girls ages 8-13. Contestant’s age group will be determined by their age as of April 1, 2013. Participants must bring proof of age.
Only students from the following schools will be admitted into the competition: St. Mary’s, Ticonderoga, Putnam, Crown Point, Moriah and Schroon lake Elementary and Middle Schools. Lunch and awards will follow competition. Contact Mike Shaw at 585-6699 for more information.
The Barracks holding Black Friday golf tournament
PLATTSBURGH — The Barracks will hold its first Black Friday 10-4-4 golf tournament this Friday. While the wives are shopping, you could be golfing. Two man teams with full handicap divided by four. Modified shotgun starting at 10 a.m. The cost is $50 per team, which includes skins. Green fee’s and cart for non-members is $20. NCCS fall athletics meeting Nov. 27
CHAMPLAIN — The Northeastern Clinton fall athletics parent and athlete meeting will be held Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 5:30 p.m. in the High School Auditorium. All modified, JV and varsity level athletes are to attend with their parent or guardian.
Plattsburgh State’s Pourakis earns postseason award
CORTLAND — Plattsburgh State men’s soccer player Nick Pourakis received this year’s Fred Holloway Award as chosen by the State University of New York Athletic Conference. The award is given to the men’s soccer student-athlete with the highest grade point average on either the first or second all-conference team with a minimum four semesters.
Pourakis played in all of the Cardinals’ 21 games at defense and was named to the second all-conference team. The senior is the first Cardinal in 22 years to earn the award. Pourakis was also on the SUNYAC All-Academic and Commissioner’s List for the fall 2011. He is an information technology major.
