---- — Beartown ski, board swap shop this weekend

PLATTSBURGH — The Beartown Ski Area ski and board swap shop will be held this weekend at Seton Academy.

You can drop off equipment you want to sell today from 4-7 p.m. and on Sunday from 9-12 p.m. The sale will be on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. Skis, snowboards, boots, poles, snowshoes, skates and outerwear are all welcome.

All proceeds support the non-profit Beartown Ski Area in Beekmantown.

CCC raising money for Hurricane Sandy Relief today

PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams will be raising funds for those affected by Hurricane Sandy. The Cougars will be selling t-shirts, 50/50 tickets, baked goods and other raffles during their games today.

The women play at 12 p.m. and the men at 2 p.m.

Spots open today in Riverside Lanes tourney

AUSABLE FORKS — There is a spot for two teams today in the Riverside Lanes tournament. The first opening is at noon and the second at 3 p.m. This is the final weekend.

7th Poker Fun Run/Walk set for Dec. 1

PLATTSBURGH — The Seventh-Annual Poker Fun Run/Walk, to benefit the Christmas Bureau, is scheduled for Dec. 1. It will begin and end at Geoffrey’s Pub.

Registration for the event will start at 11:15 a.m. with the race starting at 12 p.m. The first 200 registrants will receive an event t-shirt. The event is not timed and any walker or running is invited to participate. Along the route each participant will be issued five playing cards. The person with the best hand at the end will win the pot. Any ties for the best hand will share the pot. The suggested donation is $25.

CHAMPLAIN — Northeastern Clinton Central School has openings for coaches in varsity softball, modified softball and JV softball. CPR and first aid certification is required or you must be willing to obtain certification.

Plattsburgh Rod, Gun sets holiday shooting times

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Rod and Gun Club indoor shooting range will be open Monday at 6 p.m. and Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. for rifle shooting. It will be open for pistol shooting on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Youth Bureau sets youth hoop referee clinics

PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Youth Bureau Basketball Program is in need of referees for its 3rd/4th grade and 5th/6th grade programs, which run from Jan. 5 through Feb. 23. There is also a need for the7th/8th grade program, which runs from March 2 through March 23.

General knowledge of the rules, playing experience, and experience working with children desired. The pay is $18 - $20 per game. Applicants must be 14 years of age or older and must attend both a part one clinic and part two clinic.

All part one clinics will be held on Dec. 6,11,13,19 and 27 from 6-8 p.m. at the old courthouse building on the second floor. The part two clinics will be held on Jan. 3 and 4 from 5-7 p.m. at the Morrisonville Elementary School. Applicants must bring working papers, if under the age of 17, social security card or birth certificate and a picture ID or school report card.

All coordinators and youth coaches are encouraged to recruit potential basketball referees to attend. For further information, contact the Youth Bureau at 565-4750.

NCCS fall athletic award ceremony set for Nov. 26

CHAMPLAIN — The Northeastern Clinton Central School fall athletic award ceremony will be held on Monday, Nov. 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the high-school auditorium. All jv and varsity athletes who participated on a fall athletic team are to attend this ceremony. Athletes need to dress appropriately for the ceremony.

Chazy’s Santor on NJCAA Div. III


HERKIMER — Freshman Mike Santor of Chazy played soccer for Herkimer Community College which won the 2012 NJCAA Division III national championship for men this fall.

It was the second consecutive and ninth overall national championship for Herkimer.The team also won their 23rd consecutive NJCAA Region III championship.

The Mountaineer, Dynafit to host Movie Kickoff Party

KEENE — The Mountaineer and Dynafit will host the Dynafit Competence Center Ski Movie Kickoff Party at the Keene Arts Playhouse, located in the Old Methodist Church, Route 73, in Keene. The Mountaineer is one of only five Dynafit Competence Centers in the U.S.

The event will feature a variety of ski films, including the 1988 classic The Blizzard of AAHH’S, staring Glen Plake, last year’s Adirondack Backcountry Ski Festival guest skier. Films from the Winter Wildlands Alliance Backcountry Film Festival will be shown.

There will be a raffle of gear from our sponsors, including a chance to win Dynafit gear. Admission is $5 at the door, and free for guest under 18. Bring your own beverages. Light refreshments to be provided free of charge. Guest are encouraged to wear retro ski apparel.

Adams Turkey Trot set for Nov. 22

PERU — The Peru Lions Club will host its 35th-annual John P. Adams Memorial Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22. You can pre-register by going to and click on Register for Events; select Turkey Trot and chose one of the two registration/payment options. Pre-registrants for the 5k and 10k events will receive a free gift.

Entry fee for the 5k and 10k is $15 before Nov. 19. After Nov. 19 the fee will go up to $20. The one mile fun run/walk fee is $5. Same-day registration starts at 7:30 a.m. at the Peru Intermediate Gym. To ensure a 9 a.m. start, registration will end at 8:15 a.m.

The one mile fun run/walk will begin at 8:45 a.m. and the 5k/10k will start at 9 a.m. sharp. Pre-registrants can pick up their bib # on Nov.21 from 4-7 p.m. at the Peru Intermediate Gym. Trophies are awarded to male and female winners of the 5k/10k races.
