Dukette, Barney lead Placid past Thousand Islands

LAKE PLACID — Jayde Dukette and Samantha Barney scored goals in Lake Placid’s 2-0 victory over Thousand Islands in girls’ hockey Saturday.

Dukette opened the scoring with a power-play goal, with Barney assisting, at 12:25 of the second period.

Barney then added an unassisted insurance goal with 4:35 gone in the third.

Tanner Stanton recorded the shutout in net with 22 saves, while Kayla McCabe stopped 16 shots for Thousand Islands.

“Tanner Stanton is off to a great start in goal, with two shutouts in the first two games,” Lake Placid coach Sandy Huber said. “Sam Barney and Jayde Dukette each have three points in our two games.”

Lake Placid returns to the ice at 4:30 p.m. at Massena Monday.
