Willsboro, Lake Placid, Keene win nonleague games

WILLSBORO — The Willsboro boys’ basketball team looked to bounce back from Monday’s opening-season loss to Keene as they battled Crown Point.

The Warriors captured a 52-23 nonleague victory over the Panthers Tuesday.

Nick Arnold led the charge with 15 points and eight steals in the game. Keenen Hampton added 11 points and six steals for Willsboro, while Zach Pierson finished with nine points. Lucas Cross and Jake Hubbard each pulled down seven rebounds.

“Overall it was a good team effort on both ends of the floor,” Warriors coach Jim Spring said. “Crown Point never gave up and continued to play hard all game.”

The Panthers were led by Jaice Spring’s 10 points. Noah Macey chipped in with five points.

MONDAY

LAKE PLACID 37, CROWN POINT 32

WILLSBORO — Tarik Cecunjanin led a balanced Blue Bombers’ attack with 10 points and seven rebounds in their win over the Panthers.

Lake Placid held a slim 13-11 lead at the half, before taking a 12-point lead after three quarters.

Crown Point battled back in the fourth quarter behind Noah Macey and Joe Foote, but the Blue Bombers were able to hold on for the victory.

Scott Rossi added seven points for Lake Placid, while Chris Kordziel tossed in six.

Foote paced the Panthers with 12 points. Macey finished with nine points.

WILLSBORO — Colton Venner showed little rust to start the 2013 season as he tossed in 24 point so lead the Beavers past the Warriors.
