ROUSES POINT — Art Graves of Peru turned in a time of 19 minutes, 26 seconds to win the 5-kilometer event to win the 5K Frostbite Run held Sunday in Rouses Point.
Cassie Sellars of Plattsburgh ran a 20:35 to finish fifth, overall, with the best time in the Women's Division.
The Rouses Point Fire Department, in conjunction with the Northern Lights Track Club, resurrected the event, which was last held in 2004. It appears that the running boom is back on track in the North Country, as this year's event drew 86 runners.
Race organizers Gerry and Mary Duprey credit the Plattsburgh Half-Marathon Committee for the renewed interest in running among North Country residents. The last time the Frostbite run attracted more than 80 runners was in the late 1980's.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Jonathan Evans Memorial Fund in Peru. Additional photos of the event will be posted on the Northern Lights Track Club website. http://www.nlrunners.com/
