Adams Glass falls in two-state baseball game

---- — PERU — It took two different venues in two states to complete, but Adams Glass was unable to secure a one-run lead, falling to Franklin County in Senior Babe Ruth Tuesday, 6-5.

The game, which began June 27 in Georgia, Vt., and was delayed due to lightning, saw Adams Glass (4-4-1) take a 5-4 lead before heavy rain forced a postponement.

The two teams agreed to finish the contest at Peru High School Tuesday, with four innings complete.

In the bottom of the fifth frame, Franklin County’s Ben Millward was able to draw a walk on a 10-pitch at-bat via a passed ball. A single by Turner Ede tied the game at 5-all.

Jarrod Clark led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a single, and Jordan Clark put runners on the corners on a single with one out.

Ede attempted a suicide squeeze, but the bunt was picked up by catcher Kyle McCarthy to nail Jarrod Clark coming home for the second out.

Ben Pomicher’s bloop single to right, though, scored the game-winning run.

Kevin Sousa of Adams Glass registered two hits, including a double and scored twice.

The second game of the doubleheader was canceled in the first inning because of inclement weather.

Adams Glass will play the Vermont Outlaws at Peru High School today for 5:30 p.m.
