Knight belts game-tying hit Sunday
PLATTSBURGH — In Sunday’s Champlain Valley Baseball League nightcap featuring the Fourth Ward Timberjaxx and Fourth Ward Cardinals, the Timberjaxx were trailing entering the seventh inning.
James Knight Jr., though, tied the game with a two-RBI single to left field. Then, Russell Merrill’s RBI single drove in what proved to be the game-winning run.
The Press-Republican was given inaccurate information, crediting Justin Mahan with the game-tying hit in Monday’s edition.
Stick-n-puck and public skating weekend schedule released
PLATTSBURGH — The Ameri-Can North Sports Center has released its weekend schedule for stick-n-puck and public skating.
Stick-n-puck: May 24 — 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. May 26 — 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Public skating: May 26 — 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Plattsburgh Baseball Club to hold registration
PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Baseball Club, formerly Plattsburgh Babe Ruth, will be holding registration for Clinton County residents on today night at the City Recreation Center from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The registration is for players ages 13 to 15 and Senior Babe Ruth for ages 16 to 18.
The cost for city residents is $90 and the cost for non-residents is $95. Tryouts are scheduled for Wednesday, May 29, and Thursday, May 30, at South Acres Field. Coaches are also needed.

“Open House Day” returns to F1 Grand Prix du Canada
MONTREAL — The Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada recently announced its highly anticipated “Open House Day,” which will take place June 6 at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve.
Starting at 9 a.m., racing fans will be welcomed free of charge via the Cosmos Bridge, close to the Parc Jean-Drapeau metro station. Using a shuttle bus, visitors with their camera will be able to explore the pit lane until noon, while witnessing Formula 1 staff at work.
