Plattsburgh holds off AuSable in CVAC golf


AUSABLE FORKS — Plattsburgh High won three matches by one stroke Friday and that was good enough for a 3½-2½ victory over AuSable Valley in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference golf at the AuSable Valley Golf Club.

Winning matches for the Hornets by the slimmest of margins were Nick Dodd, 41-42, over Nate Devins at No. 1, Andre Poirier, 44-45, over Ridge Perkett at No. 2 and Alec Odnoha, 50-51, over Ian Rennie at No. 4.

Dodd was medalist on the day with his 41, while Devins was low for the Patriots with his 42.

PHS’ T.J. LaPoint halved with the Patriots’ Kyle Hart.

AuSable Valley wins came from Lucas Finnegan and Riley Taylor.

PORT HENRY — Jordan Guay carded a match-low 34 at the Moriah Golf Club to power the Indians (7-2) past the Vikings (5-5).

Tyler Lemza and Matt Nugent each added a 40 for Peru and won their matches, along with Gavin Plimpton and Kyle Miller.

Moriah’s Kyle Wilson halved with Peru’s Christian Mattila. Dylan Scozzafava, who lost his No. 1 match to Guay, had the low round for the Vikings with a 38.

ROUSES POINT — Nolan Reid carded a one-over par 37 at the North Country Golf Club to help lead the Cougars (7-3).

Alex Duffy added a 41 and Zachary Guay a 43 for NCCS. Dylan Gooley, in his first match of the season, added a 45. Chris Kokes also won his match for the Cougars.

Joe Zalis picked up the lone win for the Knights. Adam Tedford’s 49 was the low round for Seton Catholic.

PLATTSBURGH — Tyler Begor was medalist with a 47 and Brenden Carnright added a 48 to help give the Eagles their win over the Sentinels.

Josh Perkins, Alex Faruqi and Mikael Faruqi also won matches for Beekmantown.

Karney Manning won the lone match for Ticonderoga with a 48.

ELIZABETHTOWN — Cortland White was medalist with a 43 and Doug LeVien followed with a 44 as the Lions recorded a shutout of the Eagles at Cobble Hill Golf Course in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference play.

Hunter Farrell, Terry Thomas, Wesley Putnam and Trevor Brooks also won matches for E’town-Lewis.

Anderson Gay’s 58 was the low round for Westport.

(Willsboro wins, 180-185, in tie-breaker)

WILLSBORO — Dakoda Latford was medalist with a 39 at the Willsboro Golf Club to lead the Warriors to a tie-breaker win over the Wildcats.

Latford, Walker Lobdell and Lee Sloper won their matches for Willsboro, which won the tie-breaker, 180-185.

Alex Shaughnessy turned in the low round of the day for Schroon Lake with a 43 while winning his No. 1 match.

Franklin Academy’s Evan Hanna was the medalist on the day with a 40. The match was the final home one for Huskies’ seniors Hanna, Elliot Vanier, Alexandra Sprague, Dylan Fleury and Mike Sullivan.
