Reynolds leads Chazy; Ticonderoga rolls past Moriah

CHAZY — Senior Megan Reynolds went 2-for-3 with two singles, helping the Chazy girls’ softball team knock off Indian Lake/Long Lake, 5-3, in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference softball Tuesday.

However, it wasn’t so easy for the Eagles at the plate.

Emma Gray fired eight strikeouts on the mound, while surrendering just five hits in a complete-game performance for the Orange.

Reynolds, Michaela Cahoon, Paige Barcomb and Taylor Laurin combined for every hit in the ballgame for Chazy.

“It was a lot of good softball,” Eagles coach Liz Garrand said. “I gave (Cahoon) the start on the mound, and she pitched well. (Barcomb) made an appearance in the fifth inning and got the job done. We were able to make some great plays in the field, too.”

Madison Miller led Indian Lake/Long Lake, going 2-for-3, while Gray and Meg Smith accounted for the other two hits.

Chazy travels to Wells Friday.

TICONDEROGA — Jaelyn Granger tagged three doubles, while senior first baseman Meg Campney added two doubles for the Sentinels in their 15-run win over the rival Vikings.

Ticonderoga combined for 15 hits in the ballgame.

“We didn’t hit the ball well (Monday), so it was nice to see us step it up at the plate,” Sentinels coach Shelly Young said. “(Granger) and (Campney) came to play, and it provided an extra spark for our team. Defensively, we went error-free, and it was nice to see that.”

Andrea Rich and Katie Palandrani also belted doubles for Ticonderoga.

Lauren Brace paced Moriah with its lone extra-base hit, a double.

The Sentinels play AuSable Valley tonight and Peru Friday.
