Panthers get past the Orange in MVAC softball

INDIAN LAKE — Crown Point had a huge first inning, scoring four runs and taking the lead for good as the Panthers defeated Indian Lake/Long Lake on the road, 15-6.

Emma Gray and Alex Macey each pitched a complete-game performance. Macey, however, got the better of duel.

Macey helped herself in the game, going 3-for-5 with a home run to put the game out of reach for the Orange.

Brittany Foote went 3-for-4 at the plate, including a double. Maddy Miller went 1-for-3 with a single.

“(Macey) is a very good pitcher,” Indian Lake/Long Lake coach Gary Gray said. “She is probably the best pitcher in the conference and we didn’t do a bad job against her today, but she is a very good pitcher.”

The issue for the Orange was committing fielding errors, accounting for seven of them.

“We didn’t practice on the field,” Gray said. “We had a lot of tough hops and overthrows and that is what hurt us in the game (Friday), but we can sort those out.”
