Lucas Dunn scores twice and Adam Batchelder comes up with 25 saves in Northeastern Clinton’s 2-1 win over previously undefeated Seton Catholic.

Taylor Beaton’s second goal of game — in overtime — lifts Elizabethtown-Lewis to a 3-2 victory over Westport.

Brad Cringle runs for 135 yards and one touchdown while Travis Rasco hits Terry Franks and James Blocker with TD passes as Saranac beats Moriah’s 22-20 to end the state’s third-longest active losing streak in football at 22 games.

25 YEARS AGO (1988) 

Gary Duquette scores on runs of 71 yards and one yard and Billy Lighthall returns an interception for a touchdown to lead MAI to a 22-0 triumph over PHS, snapping the Mounties’ 14-game losing streak.

Freshman Stacy Martin scores with 8 minutes left to give Crown Point a 3-2 victory over previously unbeaten Westport in girls’ soccer.

Former Boston College standout Bob Emery is named assistant hockey coach at Plattsburgh State, succeeding Glen Giovanucci, who leaves for a position at West Point.

Kyle Beatttie runs for 198 yards and a touchdown while Chris Ford passes for 2 scores in AuSable Valley’s 26-7 win over St. John’s.

Sean Abell tosses 3 TD passes — one to David Boucher for 90 yards — as Moriah beats Ticonderoga 21-6.

30 YEARS AGO (1983)

Todd Purdy and Dale Mitchell score goals as Keene beats Chazy 2-0 to hand the Eagles their first loss of the season.

Lynn Coffin scores 33.1 in all-around and sweeps the optionals to lead Ticonderoga past Peru and PHS in gymnastics.

Shelly Strack scores 4 goals — giving her 11 in 3 games — to lead unbeaten Lake Placid to a 4-1 win over Crown Point.

Sondra Hall and Joyce Kerr score overtime goals as Northeastern Clinton stuns previously unbeaten Peru 3-1 in soccer.

Ann Kennedy scores for St. John’s as the Irish tie unbeaten AuSable Valley 1-1. Karen Karkoski scores for the Patriots.

Steve Cook and Theron Snow scores touchdowns and John Braid gambles on a fake punt attempt late in the game to secure AuSable Valley’s first win ever over PHS, 16-12. Jasper Hardy rushes for 144 yards and 2 TDs for the Hornets.

Dermott Morgan scores 2 touchdowns and Kurt Sturgeon and Bob Peria one each in Saranac Lake’s 26-0 win over Tupper Lake.

40 YEARS AGO (1973)

Jeff Benjamin scores 2 goals and Lonnie Cross and Bill Calnon one each to lead Clinton CC over Northwood School in soccer.

Tommy Nels passes for one score and runs 50 yards for another to spark Moriah to a 20-0 victory over Saranac. Tommy Wheelock and Jud McLean also score for the Vikings.

Plattsburgh State, the reigning NAIA District 31 champion, wins the 24-team Utica College Invitational by 26 strokes over Niagara University. Mike O’Connor, with a 143, is medalist while Chip Ward finishes third with a 147.

50 YEARS AGO (1963)

Recently retired Boston Celtics great Bob Cousy conducts a clinic for 800 at Plattsburgh State.

Harry Frenyea rushes for 58 yards, Ron Walsh passes to Tom Peryea for one score and Gary Garrow scores another as Beekmantown, under Bob Hudak, beats Keeseville 13-0.

Jim Fogarty, Jack Levitt, Gary Whittemore and Dick Sheffield all score touchdowns in Lake Placid’s 26-0 victory in football.

 60 YEARS AGO (1953)

Bill Sweet collects 2 hits, including a 2-run single, and Ray Tarbox outduels Al Pageau as the Saranac Lake Chiefs beat Lyon Mountain 3-1 to claim the Champlain Valley League baseball crown.

Fred Arthur, Raye Brennan, James Corbo, Ronald Donahue, Emmett Hargett, Paul Huchro, Patrick Ida and Alvin Mazinsky are returning starters for Whitey Kazlo’s Mineville Red Flame football team.

St. Mary’s of Ogdensburg defeats St. John’s 14-0 to spoil the Irish coaching debut of Barry Branon. Bob Ducatte is the standout for St. John’s.

70 YEARS AGO (1943)

Ronald O’Hara runs for 3 touchdowns and Myers, one, as St. John’s defeats MAI 26-0 in a season opener. Sid Spiegel, George Hall and Tony Papero are the officials.

Lindy Hull’s 2-yard run caps a 60-yard, fourth-quarter drive as Tupper Lake downs Saranac Lake 6-0.
