Maile Sapp, John Santor, Andre and Randy Sapp and Tom Necrason post top-5 finishes at the 2003 Marathon Canoe & Kayak National Championships.

Dannemora’s Craig Favaro earns $10,000 by sinking a 50-foot putt in the St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation Golf Tournament at Craig Wood.

Matt Laramee and Jon Dumas each belt 2 homers to power Unicel/In Motion Therapy to a 20-2 rout of Dabiew’s Market in the deciding game of the Malone AmVets Gentlemen’s Slo-Pitch Softball League championship series.

Hannah Robinson, Tiffany Sorrell, Aggie Fedorowska, Kailey Ryan, Kelly Caron, Megan O’Connor, Katie Molzan, Cassie Morrissey and Kendall Dowler lead the Lake Champlain Lady Waves to a fifth-place finish in the Adirondack District Long Course Swimming Championships at Colgate University.

Playoff MVP Jamie LaBarge belts a 3-run homer in the first game and Devin Bodette contributes 3 hits in the nightcap to lead the Altona Hornets to a 8-5, 5-3 sweep of the Plattsburgh Cardinals in the CVBL championship series.

Bart VanLeuvan and Kathy Barcomb repeat as North Country Golf Club champions while Tom Neligan captures his third consecutive title at The Barracks.

20 YEARS AGO (1993)

Chris King hits for the cycle while Jim Wood and Lonnie Cleland collect 4 hits apiece as Mickey’s mauls American Legion Post 1619 23-1 to wrap up the A Division championship in the Adirondack Slo-Pitch Softball League playoffs.

Jason Bushey, Scott Shutts and Jason Moulton score goals to send Northern Adirondack past Chazy 3-1 in the final of the Seton Catholic soccer tournament. Chip DeMarse scores for Chazy.

Sophomore Jessica Johnston scores twice as Chateaugay edes Franklin Academy 2-1 to win the  Seton Catholic Girls Soccer Tournament. Missy West scores for Malone.

39-year-old Wayne Marsh belts 3 homers and drives in 7 runs to lead the Brushton Vets to a 12-3 title-clinching win over Cornwall in the Northern Valley Baseball League.
