MINERVA — The Mountaineers plated seven runs in the fourth inning on their way to a victory over the Eagles.
“There were four hits in that inning and two errors,” Minerva/Newcomb assistant coach Matt Winslow said. “So we had some timely hits and some opportune base-running situations that caused some confusion for them — they made some errors. And that opened up the game, obviously.”
Shelby Hogan struck out six and picked up the win. Dakota Bennett had two hits and scored two runs for the Mountaineers.
Paige Barcomb pitched a complete game for Chazy, allowing five hits.
