Cassavaugh ties NYS stolen base record in Lions' win

ELIZABETHTOWN — Kylee Cassavaugh is one stolen base away from capturing the New York record and helped lead Elizabethtown-Lewis to a 24-14 victory over Willsboro in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference softball Wednesday.

Cassavaugh, who came in with 125 stolen bases for her career, swiped three bases in the victory.

She is now tied with Niagara Wheatfield graduate Caitlin Attfield, who took over the record from Alden graduate Jordan Rutkowski a season ago, with 128.

The Lions host Minerva-Newcomb Friday.

Cassavaugh finished with three hits, including two doubles and three RBI on the afternoon. Emma Disogra added a triple to go with her three hits and five RBI, while Cheyenne Sousis had four hits, a double and four RBI.

Chontel St. Denis finished with seven strikeouts to capture the win on the mound.

Alyson Arnold had a phenomenal day for Willsboro. The senior finished a perfect 5-for-5 with two doubles, a triple and five RBI.

Kyli Swires took the pitching loss for the Warriors.

SCHROON LAKE — Paige Barcomb tossed a no-hitter as the Eagles knocked off the Wildcats.

Barcomb struck out three and walked seven. Miranda DeZalia started and took the loss for Schroon Lake.

The Eagles, who took advantage of walks and Wildcat errors, finished with three hits. Skyler Thomas had a triple, Amber Polomsky a double and Kallie McGrath a single.

Amanda James drove in a run for Schroon Lake.
